4.5 months!

This week was fun. I went for loooong walks with Ammu every day after she came back from school. We bought lots of pirated movies including Curious Case of Ben Button since we couldn't watch that with the rest of the family in Huntsville over Christmas! We also got The Reader, Bride Wars, Doubt, Penelope, and Australia. My neighborhood is so nice. There are trees everywhere with lemons, limes, and oranges growing on them. There are also 4 parks. One is a kids park, one is a lovers park, one is just for resting on the way to something else, and one is for kids+people working out. We go to all of them. We buy juice, pineapple, coconuts, tacos, tamarind...unfortunately I don't get to eat any of it. Well, not directly anyway...

Today I went to the Zocalo and also to the big market. Ammu bought a new carrier for me. I loved the old blue one I had that my BORO Nanu gave me but I'm starting to (1) get heavy and (2) I've been ready to face forward foreva-eva and I can't comfortably do it in the blue one. Here's a pic of me in my new carrier, I love it. I can face out and see the world - which I did all day today. Ammu put me in it as soon as she bought it, the man in the store helped fit me in and tightened the straps just right. Then when I got exhausted Ammu turned me around so I could bury my face in her and fall asleep on the metro ride home! 

I've been trying to fall asleep earlier and earlier lately. I need about 12 hours of sleep at night. In Chicago I was going to sleep at 11pm and waking up at around 10-11am. But since I've been in Mexico I started going to sleep at 10..then 9....then 7....and now 6! But it makes sense (to me) because Ammu gets up super early now, so I just want to get up at the same time as her. In Chicago she used to get up at 10 too! 

Here are some pics from our walks this week, from the market today, and taking a bath in the kitchen sink after I got home. They use a yellow bucket full of warm water, an empty strawberry yogurt container, and a red sponge! 

Oh what mental and physical anguish!

First the mental anguish - Daddy and Nanu left yesterday, it was sad I miss them. After dropping them off at the airport I went to the mall with Abuelita, here's a picture. It was fun! There was a nice square we sat in then Ammu walked me around in the stroller until I fell asleep. Here is a picture of me in my stroller! 

Then today I had a super busy day. First early this morning I went with Ammu to the market to buy eggs, tomatoes, juice, and beef. We also stopped at the tailor to drop off some of her pants. Then came home and took a nap and after waking up Abuelita took me to get some professional photos taken! If you ask me, the pictures came out great. The lady was nice and she put me in fun places like the lake, the beach, a farmhouse, and outer space! Stay tuned for those pics....but it will take 3 weeks because they send them to America to develop!

Now for the physical anguish - after the photoshoot they took me to get my ears pierced!!! We went to Tia Abuelita Cruzita's clinic to do it. It was such a horrific experience - I cried louder than I've ever cried in my life with my eyes full of tears. But as soon as she finished both ears and Ammu picked me up I stopped crying! The earrings we brought weren't ideal because the backs would hurt me, but my ninera Angeles had earrings in her second ear hole that were perfect - so we used those can you believe it!? So now I have little gold Virgin of Guadeloupe earrings in my ears and can't take them out for 3-4 months. 

After that whole ordeal we went out to eat at an amazing seafood restaurant that Tia Abuelita Cruzita knew. Ammu had ceviche de camaron and Abuelita had ostras! It was a long day, but just keep in mind I have to eat every 2.5 hours people!! This body didn't get this way by itself!

In other news - I can pick up things and hold on to them now. I have a rattle that the German lady Ms. Ellen upstairs gave me that I can hold and play with. It's her son's 3rd birthday this weekend I think she's having a party, I wonder if they will invite me! 

I miss you Daddy, wish you here when I got my ears pierced. It was worse than getting my vaccinations! The weather is so warm and nice. I love Mexico City!!

This week has been the best. Daddy and Nanu are here for 9 days, we've been having such a good time. Abuelita bought me a walker, even though its for babies starting 7 months and I'm just 4 months! But my feet almost touch the ground and I can move it a little bit when I wiggle, I like it! Can't you tell?

Nanu isn't staying with us anymore because she's here to learn Spanish in an immersion program. She's staying in the school, I checked out her apartment though and met her roommate. We went out for tacos and jugos it was fun! It's good to have Daddy here, he still remembers how to change my diapers in the middle of the night. Here is a picture of us at Ammu's school, her school is gorgeous.

We also had a surprise birthday party for daddy at Tia Eleo's house. Here is a picture of me and Primo Mauricio (he wants to be a chef when he grows up! I wonder what I want to be...)

Abuelita took me to the doctor two days ago to get my vaccinations. Ammu was distracting me and making me smile when all of a sudden I felt something in my leg and screamed in pain. Then it happened again in my arm! Afterwards Daddy held me in his arms and I was fine. I did good!!  Thanks Abuelita!!!!! Doctor took my measurements, 15lb and 24.4in - which puts me in the 68th percentile for height, and 55th percentile for weight.

PS for my more disparaging/observant readers, I realize I wear that pink and brown striped outfit a lot. It's soft and warm and fits me perfectly, trust me it's clean every time!

Hoy Comple Cuatro Meses!

Today is my 4 month birthday! Mexico City is awesome, I go for walks every day in my stroller. Here is a picture of me today on my tummy, usually I don't like being on my tummy at all but today I kind of liked it! It's good exercise they tell me. I went over to my friends house today Adrian and Bernard, they have an entire room just for toys. They are 3 and 9 years old. They speak Spanish, German, and English. They call their mom by her name "Ellen", isn't that funny! She is always really nice to me and always being helpful to Ammu. The past 4 months of life have been great! I can't believe I'll be 6 months when I leave Mexico, I'll probably be able to say a word or two by then. Today I went for a long walk with Ammu and my new nanny Angeles. Then they bought juices and we went and sat in the park and watched the bodybuilders work out. Angeles is always playing with me and talks to me nonstop, it's great. Yesterday Ammu bought a red bike so she can come home between classes and feed me quickly (they tried to make me drink out of one of those "bottles" because of her classes but I wouldn't do it *evil laugh*)

Happy 28th Birthday Daddy

I love you. I miss you walking me at night before I sleep. Now Ammu only walks me sometimes but most of the time she makes me fall asleep on my own on the bed so I don't develop "sleep associations", she's no fun! I was sick, they took me to the doctor and he put me on lots of medication. I had a fever but I didn't cry that much or anything, just a little. I have a lot more space in the bed now that you're gone, but sometimes I get cold because I throw the sheets off of me and you're not there to warm me up on the other side. I also started going for walks in my stroller which I love. But Abuelita won't let me go for walks anymore because she thinks its too dangerous, she think someone is going to steal me because I'm so "good looking". I miss you, Mexico City is fun because the weather is so perfect but I wish we were together. Happy 28th birthday, you are so young Daddy! I bet all of my friends will think you're the cutest dad in the entire class. Good night Daddy see you in four days.

YEAHHHHHH NEW COUSIN!!!!!!

Found out today I'm going to have a new cousin!!! Aunt Trina is going to have a baby so it won't just be me and Micah anymore.....Micah's going to be an older brother and I'm going to be an older sister!!!! I am secretly hoping it's a girl so we can play together and be best friends like Ammu and Naushin Khalamoni were....I'm so excited!! Also I think she will be born almost right around my birthday! This is a picture of Micah Bhaia today and one of me and Bhaiya around December 20th when I just arrived to Birmingham from Chicago for Christmas break. It's not my good side I know.

Happy birthday Grandmom! I had such a good time spending my first Christmas with you and Memaw. Thanks for always taking care of everyone so well, you always know what's going on and always work so hard (even when you should be resting after surgery). I love you, hopefully see you before July 4th!
